Day two, Tuesday July 5, 2011

Today we started teaching Vacation Bible School (VBS). We had pretty good attendance form the Bohemian children.
Our VBS is a half-day program that starts at 900am and ends around noon. VBS consisted of three stations that the children would rotate through; Bible class, arts & crafts and physical activities (games).

We start the day at 9:00am with opening ceremonies. The kids go through registration and they get assigned a color and a name-tag. Everyone meets in the Sanctuary and we sing songs and pray before we separate into our three rotations.

Once we split into our rotations the kids had a great time at each of the stations and likewise for us. It is so fun to share with these kids. The kids are so anxious and excited. I have a feeling that in the USA they would all be put on Ritalin or some other drug to induce a more relaxed state. But the reality is it’s pretty fun to watch kids be kids.

After all of the kids rotated through each station we all met back in the sanctuary fro closing ceremonies. Much the same as the opening ceremonies, we sang songs and had prayer. Afterwards the kids were sent out front to have a snack before leaving.
We all stayed out front for a while and played and talked with the kids as they had their snacks.

then we headed back into our meeting area for a quick wrap up before lunch. (hot dogs, chips and cool-aid)

After lunch the day was all about construction projects and evangelism.  We are split into two groups, red and blue. Each day we alternate which group does what task. Today the Red group did construction while the Blue group did street evangelism, I am in the Red group.

Being that I was not with the Blue group as they did the street evangelism I don’t have any pictures from that, but I will get some tomorrow.

As far as construction goes we had several projects that the Red team was split up to do. I was helping with tiling the walls of two bathrooms. Seth and Collin were the lead guys on this project as they had the most experience in this area. Adrienne and Austin were also helpers. Adrienne jumped in as is she had been tiling rooms as a profession for the past ten years lol. Collin cut the tiles, I put the glue on the back and Adrienne and Seth placed the tiles on the walls.

Again, because I was assigned to a project I was unable t get many pictures from other projects.  Here are a couple of Noah and Howie working to rebuild a doorframe.

We wrapped up our projects around 5:30pm and prepared for dinner. We cleaned up and met in the main room for a wrap up and dinner prayer. We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and it was awesome. I can’t say enough about the ones in the kitchen who prepare our meals. It’s wonderful to have a good meal to sit down to after a long day. It is so incredibly hot in the kitchen and the ladies are in their every day making our meals, God bless ‘em.

After diner we had a bit of free time before we had praise and worship.

Praise and worship was awesome. Howie led the group with a few songs to get things started and Ken led us in a wonderful message.I have been taking videos of the worship times. When we return I will be compiling a DVD of pictures and videos that we will distribute.

After praise and worship we had more free time. Most of the kids went to the local park to hang out with the local kids or they stayed here and played cards. Several of the adults prepared the room for sleeping.

Lights were out at eleven and we ended a second wonderful day here in the Bahamas.

I would love to include more pictures and video, but the signal here just wont permit it. I will do as much as I can when I can. I assure you there will be a great DVD to follow sometime after this trip. We are only at the end of day two and I have over 500 pictures just from my camera. Upon our return all pictures and videos will be given to me to compile. I'm sure it will take me a little bit to get it put together, but I will work diligently to get it assembled as quickly as possible as I know there are plenty of people interested in having a copy.

Until tomorrow, God bless and thank you to everyone for your prayers and support. We are certainly seeing God's hand at work here every day, both within our own people as well as the Bohemians.
