Well, the time is drawing near that we will be leaving for our mission trip to the Bahamas and let me say, it's been an interesting week of preparation for the Millard family. Much of which we only have our selves to blame :-) I will refrain from the boring details of all the little nuances that have plagued us due to our procrastination, but I'll just point out as an example, the fact that we are awaiting our passports via overnight FedEx from Washington DC. Yes that's right, we leave on Monday and our passports for all four of our children are supposed to be here Saturday morning. Why you ask? Well that would be because we didn't apply for them until WEDNESDAY! Yes, two days ago! I will not tell you how much it costs to have four passports expedited, but let's just say that when you have to get your local congressman involved, IT AINT CHEAP! However, it is in fact our own fault as it is not like this was a "last minute" decision to go on this mission. So we will just refer to the expense as "paying stupid tax."
We do have all of our supplies ready and are about 80% packed for the trip. I can't tell you how excited I am to spend a week sleeping on an air mattress.....(long pause and sarcastic facial expression) But I guess I could be sleeping on a dirt floor blanketed only by a star lit sky and the moisture of the humid air of the Bahamas. So I will in fact be thankful that I have an air mattress for sure.
I know some people who see this will think, "mission trip in the Bahamas? yea, I bet "mission trip". Rest assured I understand why people would think that. Prior to taking part of this trip I too only really thought of the Bahamas as a beautiful vacation spot. Heck, I've been there on vacation. But let it be known right now that this trip will be far from a vacation. Our days are filled from morning til night with mission activities surrounding the church that were are going down to support. We will be teaching a week of Bible School at the local church, Assisting with various construction projects, holding prayer sessions and more. The adults as well as the kids will have their days filled with work that has one main purpose, to share who God and Jesus are and what the love of Christ in a persons life can do for them and how to receive Jesus as their personal savior.

For those of you that are supporting us on this trip, I want to thank you immensely. Your monetary support as well as prayers are greatly appreciated in ways that you may or may not understand. My family and I will do our very best to use our time, talents and resources to be an example to the Bohemian people that you would be proud of. I see your donations to my family more as investments rather than a gift or donation, and my family, as well as the rest of our church, will do our best to make sure your investment counts in the lives of the people we will encounter. Please continue to pray for my family as well as the entire group from State Line Baptist Church. State Line Baptist Church
I am not sure what the Wifi situation will be at our location. My intent is to do a daily blog update with pictures. If the signal is too weak it may not be feasible to load pictures and I may not even be able to post. If I cannot post, I will do a nightly report in a Word format and then post in series when we return home. But I am hopeful that I can do it each night from there. I would say that I could also do update via my cell phone because AT&T does have coverage there. However, I reviewed the rates and I hope you respectfully understand that my phone will be OFF unless its an emergency. I mean REALLY! the rates are crazy. It seems like nothing when you see the price per kilobyte or per message, but when you add it all up, NO THANK YOU. I will hope and pray for good Wifi, otherwise, Ill fill ya in when we return :-)
Again, Thank you for the support and I am looking forward to keeping you informed.
God bless,
